NPT EBA UPDATE: 15 JANUARY 2018

On Monday, 15th January 2018, the AEAV and ANMF met with NPT in the Fair Work Commission before Commissioner Wilson to progress negotiations for a new enterprise agreement.

Discussions focused on wages and the matter of paid/unpaid meal breaks.

With respect to wages NPT put forward the offer of wage increases in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which has a present value of 1.8% effective from March 2018. The value of subsequent wage increases is unknown as the CPI is determined on a quarterly basis by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Further NPT is going to provide the unions with a clause regarding paid meal breaks this week which we will share with you for consideration. The unions re-emphasised our position that members are not interested in losing the paid meal break nor being rostered to additional shifts to make up the 30 minute meal break time.

The AEAV and ANMF also had discussions regarding industrial action. Should members have any ideas for potential industrial action it would be greatly appreciated if they could be provided ASAP.

Commissioner Wilson has scheduled a further conference for Monday, 22 January 2018.

Members will be kept updated.
