AEAV State 013

August 2016

Fees for all United Voice union members will be increasing as from 1st October 2016.

The United Voice Branch Council has voted for a moderate increase in union fees from 1st October 2016.

This increase will help meet the rising costs of providing additional resources, advice, support and campaigns to improve your conditions.  In particular the increase will go a long way in funding the new AEAV Union Organiser position which commences very soon.

Below is a summary of recent benefits we have been able to provide to members and a reminder of some of the ongoing benefits the AEAV has been able to provide to members:

  • Professional indemnity insurance
  • Additional resources in the Union Office such as a dedicated AEAV Union Organiser
  • AEAV/BankVic Salary Income Protection Scheme
  • Ambulance Welfare Fund
  • WorkCover assistance utilising referrals to Union Assist as needed
  • Discount on Private Health cover through NIB – don’t forget to mention you are an AEAV member
  • Running IR legal cases for individual and group issues
  • Free Will service [standard wills]
  • Representation at Enterprise Bargaining negotiations

Union members enjoy better working conditions than workplaces that have little or no union involvement and sometimes it is easy to forget the achievements that unions have made over the decades such as:

  • Superannuation
  • Equal pay for women
  • Shorter working hours
  • Penalty rates
  • Meal allowances
  • Holidays with pay
  • Parental leave
  • Minimum award conditions
  • Work Value Case
  • Wage Increases

As a financial union member you have contributed to these gains in working conditions for yourself, your colleagues and future generations.
