AV 041

September 2016

Fair Work Amendment
(Respect for Emergency Service Volunteers)
Bill 2016

The Senate is holding an inquiry into the provisions of the Fair Work Amendment (Respect for Emergency Services Volunteers) Bill 2016.

The proposed legislation is poorly drafted and dangerous.

It provides no insight as to which emergency services would be covered by its operation and affords volunteers or aggrieved third parties the ability to interfere in the making of enterprise agreements which do not impact them.

The Union knows that volunteers within Ambulance Victoria do a fantastic job and strongly believes that the proposed legislation is completely unnecessary.

The Union will hopefully be afforded the opportunity to appear at one of the public hearings.
