VALE Pete Dowling

It is with deep sadness that we advise the passing of long term AEAV Delegate and State Councillor Pete Dowling after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.

Pete started his ambulance career in 2001 after making a switch from 30 years as a teacher. Pete always carried with him a passion and expertise for education and was a mentor to many workmates.

Pete was and remains one of the AEAV’s staunchest and most dependable fighters. He spent many hours volunteering in the union office helping out wherever he could.

He played an important role in mentoring and supporting other Delegates and State Councillors and was incredibly respected by his union family. He was twice elected to the United Voice Branch Executive, representing ambulance members to the broader union.  He was also elected to the United Voice Branch Council twice and represented the Ambulance Section [AEAV] on the United Voice National Council on several occasions.

The Executive of the AEA-V, on behalf of its members, wish to express their sincere sympathy to Pete’s family, friends and colleagues.

He will be sadly missed.
