The Victorian Ambulance Union reported that two members were allegedly assaulted while on shift in Mornington. One paramedic was assessed in hospital, and both were left shaken after the incident.

Paramedics, like all emergency and health workers, are easily identified by their uniform. The community knows who they are and the vital work they perform. While the majority of people value and respect them, a small but dangerous part of the community has shown no regard, resorting instead to violence against those who are there to help.

These assaults highlighted a clear message: it is never ok to assault paramedics.

Every assault places an unfair toll on those who dedicate their lives to caring for others. Paramedics deserve to feel safe while doing their work, and no act of violence should ever be considered acceptable.
