Support continues to grow among Members of Parliament for the maintenance of taxpayer-funded ambulance rosters. More and more MPs are standing with ADHSU members to call out the unacceptable practice of shifting resources away from communities that have already had additional staff funded and allocated.

So far, ADHSU members have met with over 25 state MPs as part of a grassroots campaign demanding fairness, transparency, and accountability from NSW Ambulance. The message is clear: communities across NSW should not lose resources they’ve already paid for.

In Tamworth, paramedics are anxiously awaiting the arrival of extra staff—but with real fear that these positions will not be maintained. They’ve seen it happen across the state: new staff brought in temporarily, only to be moved elsewhere to plug staffing holes.

Campbelltown and the wider South West Sydney region are among the hardest hit by resource misallocations. Despite massive demand, up to 18 ambulances can be missing before a single one is replaced. Day after day, funded resources are redirected to other regions—often higher SES suburbs—leaving some of the state’s busiest areas under-resourced.

In Terrigal and Gosford, it’s a similar story. Ambulances are frequently dispatched out of area to Sydney or Newcastle, while local stations like Lisarow, Morriset, Kincumber, and Hamlyn Terrace remain under-resourced and overlooked.

Riverstone stands out for its critically high response times, with lights-and-sirens jobs sometimes taking nearly 20 minutes to reach—double the acceptable 10-minute benchmark. This region is one of the fastest-growing in Sydney, and yet, resources have not kept pace.

And on the Mid-North Coast, Coffs Harbour paramedics face constant disruption. ADHSU’s data shows that in 65% of instances where stations were under the Taxpayer-Funded Rosters (TFR) model, overtime was never even advertised. Members in the region are fed up with the chronic lack of effort to properly fill staffing gaps.

But there is hope—every meeting with an MP counts. Each new pledge to maintain taxpayer-funded rosters brings us one step closer to securing lasting change.

ADHSU members are encouraged to keep engaging with local MPs, wearing their ADHSU shields, and chalking their vehicles with campaign messages. Those wanting help with organising local meetings can register their interest via the link below.
